More weather

Operation season 2014, which filled us all weekends from May till October, is successfully over with. And there is a time for visit another similar places. We didn´t have to go far, because there are a railway enthusiasts near Brno. Our expedition numbered 11 members.

Museum of the industrial and field railways, Drasov

Our first trip led to township Drasov which is placed about 21 km to the north-west of Brno. Mr Zdenek Jobanek has his railway domain here. Drasov´s narrow gauge-railway is focused to operation of lumber, field and industry locomotives and cars with gauge 600 mm. There is a museum of the historical items which related to not only railway operation - historical semaphores and signal discs, lamps, printig machine for tickets, phones, information boards and anothers. Zdenek Jobanek dedicates over two hours to us, he showed us around all railway and collections. Occasional rain showers even spoiled us this unusual excursion. Next informations about history, rolling-stock, operation and opening times you find at web pages Drasov´s industrial railway. Thank you for interesting excursion to history of the Czechoslovakia railways.

Private 15" railway, Pejskov

We continued some more to west into small village Pejskov after short lunch in the restaurant "Cebin´s cottage". But we don´t recommend this restaurant. There is the 15" railway of Zdenek Durpekt, but this railway is almost secret. Zdenek Durpekt called himself as pioneer of the deadlocks. But this isn´t true. He built all vehicles, buildings and tracks with his own hands. The station with a roofed platform is a starting point. Single track with gradient to 46‰ continues onward into garden and attached forest. There is a return loop where train turns round almost on a dime and it returns back. Total lenght is about 700 metres. There are tunnel and avoiding point at the line. The two axle petrol locomotive "Madlenka" with a hydrostatic transfer is operation at the present time. It pulled four axle roofen passenger car with two parts for passengers.

Welcome in Pejskov.

But Zdenek Durpekt doesn´t laze. The new steam locomotive which will in operation next year is in the construction. The model is a locomotive Mountainer which runs at "Cleethorpes Coast Light Railway" in the England. The main parts of the locomotive are assembled but he will hard work during winter yet.

As model is this steam locomotive "Mountaineer" from Cleethorpes Coast Light Railway.

Mr Zdenek invited us for coffee and cakes in conclusion. His three dogs and tom cat considered us to alines but they got used to us shortly. We nicely talked about railways and locomotives and we viewed some photos and videos. Thank his very much for warm welcome and treat. We would like return a visit to Mr Zdenek too.
