Spolecnost Moravskych Parkovych Drah / Society of the Moravian Park Railways (thereinafter Society S.M.P.D. or Society) is a voluntary association of persons concerned about park railway and garden railway.

Our main activities are park railway oparation with 127 mm (5") if you like 184 mm (7") gauge, mobile garden railway with I/II size, development and building of models for these railways.

We are visiting national and international meetings of modellers. We would like to arrange this same meetings after building our park railway.

S.M.P.D. Society is organizing professional lectures, excursions and collective tours to the his members and backers.

St. Nicholas run
Sunday 5th December 2010, Brno

The last action of S.M.P.D. in 2010 was St. Nicholas run at the our park railway. So we were looking forward to St. Nicholas and first snow when St. Martin left it at home. But we were looking forward uselessly. It was freezing weather on Saturday morning without snow unfortunately. You can see all reportage in the section Photo gallery/St. Nicholas run 2012.

S.M.P.D. meeting of the members
Saturday 27th October 2012, Brno

The first meeting of members our club was scheduled for the last operating weekend, or more precisely on Saturday 27th Ocrober. Why did not close a season in comfort our club room, why did not a sit-down for a while together, why did not have a chat? We are met in great numbers, totaly twenty members. Absent persons were regularly excused. Roman Siler, president of the club, evaluted last season and he outlined next season. The second Steam Olympiad will the main event of the next season of course. The boys processed detailed statistic of all locomotives, which operated in 2012. Jirka Polak acquainted us about news at park railway Swiss Vapeur Parc. Pavel Uhlir informed us about exhibition ModelHobby 2012, which he presented "G scale" steam locomotives alongside his family and Jirka Kut. We watched a short presentations from our last visits of RhB, Graz and Balson´s company yard after collective dinner. The boys finished pleasantly spent evening by run by the first this year´s snowfall.

Visit to the Balson company
Friday 26th October 2012, Stein am Rhein

The Swiss company Balson gave an open day under the style "Probefahrt" on Friday 26th October and Saturday 27th October. The family business is one of the best-known producer of locomotives, cars and accessories for park railway. Mr Charles Ball junior is an owner of this company and he took over company after his father. He is following in father´s footsteps and it looks successfully. Only our club has three battery locomotives AEG which company Balson made. Mr Ball rightly understood that we are an potential customer for a big steam locomotive of his company. He offered us to try to drive these locomotives and we gladly accepted the invitation. You can see detailed reportage in the section Photo gallery/Visit to the Balson company.

ModelHobby
27th - 30th September 2012, PVA Praha - Letnany

Already 21th exhibition for modellers ModelHobby 2012 came since 27th until 30th September at exhibition grounds PVA Letnany. Pavel Uhlir and his family represented our club because they are a shorter way from Vinohrady to Letnany. And Jirka Kut helped them too. 1st Steam Olympiad
2nd - 3rd June 2012, Brno

The Olympia park main station was opened at the first time for the general public on Saturday 2nd July 2012. None national anthems, none speeches. We raised country´s colours of the all participating countries including our, Moravian. Final preparations were under way from early morning. Shunting in depot, shunting in the main station, heating of the steam locomotives in the round-house. Small sleepy railway station at the local line changed for the big busy main station with real operation. Working trains with water and coal for steam locomotives arranged at entry tracks, shunting of the passenger carriages for commercial trains ran in the main station. Operators beat up and down, tickets, souvenirs and steam beer were preparing in the ticket office. You can see detailed reportage in the section Photo gallery/1st Steam Olympiad 2012.

16th steam indoor meeting
13th - 15th January 2012, Karlsruhe

After last year participation with small steam locomotives we went to Karlsruhe with this same models this year too. Total eighteen models represented Society of the Moravian Park Railways on 16th international steam meeting. Halls No. 1 and No. 2 were available for modelers and visitors same as the last year. There were small scales, stationary steam engines, ship models and exhibition stands in the hall No. 1, but it seemed us that exhibitions stands were less than last year. An economic recesion is on the strong German marketplace. If the exhibition grounds wants to collect participation fees from next year so participation will be even smaller. We heard this information, too. Locomotives and trains of the different scales circled on the two separated yards in the hall No. 2. "Christmas runs" on the New town hall Brno
23th December 2011, Brno

We got an invitation from deputies of statutory town Brno to attendance on Christmas 2011 side events. The weather was very favourable, so favourable with respect to season. Although was drizzling from the morning and our fingers went numb with cold. The steam locomotive was in operation according to the plan. Two battery locomotives AEG were ready for morning and evening operation and for trains strengthening. We put a simple oval with two side tracks. Herbstfest 2011
10th and 11th September 2011, Graz

Dampfbahnclub in Graz or Styrsky Hradec organized already traditional autumn Herbstfest. But you can call it as summer celebration given weekend tropical weather. We did not visit Graz last year, becouse we was very busy, so we visited it this year. Three steam locomotives and one battery locomotive with a pew and freight cars represented S.M.P.D. Society. Because we like somtimes ride at another park railway, we like sometimes meet colleagues-modellers, we like sometimes talk about steam models and we like sometimes watch a new models. And we need to acquire new contacts for our society database because start of regulation operation in Olympia coming soon. We want to organize an international meetings of modellers. Brno´s museum night
14th May 2011, Technical museum Brno

The year passed as a water and we caught in the whirl of Brno´s museum night. Is arising a new tradition? This is very well, if yet, because we must respect traditions. Most locos had a break from last action in Karlsruhe and we heated properly them.
Interest of visitors was really great. Queue in front of the museum was long and it was late into the night. But weather hold the balance always and it influence attendance. The weather was changeable this Saturday. Can we came from warehouse into museum, it was rain heavily. Patron of museum held his proverbial hand and the rain has stopped before opening the museum. Modeller 2011
10th - 13th March 2011, BVV Brno

Fair trade MODELLER returned at Brno´s exhibition grounds together fair trades ITEA BRNO, FORCHILD and FISHING from 10th to 13th March 2011. Society of the Moravian Park Railways recieved invitation to participation in the side events with its mobile yard for large scale steam and battery locomotives. The mobile yard was designed as single-track with central five-track station (three passable tracks + two dead-end tracks for locomotives heating) and with two returnable loops. Total lenght was about 250 metres. We tried to couple eight waggons to steam locomotive and we were curious if it cope with this load. And steam locomotive coped with it. 15th steam indoor meeting
14th - 16th January 2011, Karlsruhe

Variety is the spice of life so we presented only small steam locomotives on this year steam meeting in Karlsruhe. Our tour provided 17 participants mostly members of S.M.P.D. Society. New steam locomotives of serie Betty, which members of S.M.P.D. Society own, met on steam meeting in Karlsruhe. Jura Sajbrt brought a new model of lumberjack locomotive Climax in scale 1:28 with one. St. Nicholas run
Sunday 5th December 2010, Brno

The last action of S.M.P.D. in 2010 was St. Nicholas run at the our park railway. Mrs Winter showed us her dominion from curtain of the November already. Waterfront of steamlovers
Saturday 28th August 2010, Hradec Kralove

Part of the S.M.P.D. Society members participated in "Waterfront of steamlowers" in Hradec Kralove next week. Pavel Uhlir and his family brought their mobile yard and together with Karel and Lenka Duda and Jiri Polak represented our society. Inauguration of the "Children Railway"
Saturday 21th August 2010, Hradec Kralove

Steamlowers in Hradec Kralove made one´s dream come true and they built 400 metres long "Children railway" with gauge 5"/7". The railway is placed on the 5th May square. Starting point is double-track station with two dead tracks, which can use for heating of locomotives and shunt of trains.
Society of the Moravian Park Railways was asked for cooperation with operation. Children railway is only on start and it has not extensive rolling-stock yet. We brought steam locomotives Krzenowic and Ponava with four bench cars. Bouth visiting steam locomotives and domestic locotractor worked all day. Radiant children smiles was a great reward for us. The constitutive meeting of the S.M.P.D.
Saturday 24th July 2010, Brno

The constitutive meeting of the S.M.P.D. was on Saturday 24th July 201o in Brno. The main purpose was elect authorities of the S.M.P.D. and agree the amount of membership fee. We met together 21, including 5 members expectants. A five members apologized for family and health reasons.

For committee were proposed and unanimously elected these members:
Roman Siler - chairman of the board
Jirí Sajbrt - vicechairman
Tomas Randysek - booking-clerk

For auditing commission were proposed and unanimously elected these members:
Jiri Kut - chairman of the auditing commission
Jiri Polak - vicechairman of the auditing commission
Tomas Marek - member of the auditing commission

The second part of the Saturday programme was an excursion by historical electric railcar No. 99, which was made in 1941. The Brno´s transport undertaking is operating this car to demonstration runs on the new historical transport line No. 10.
This excursion organized and the electric railcar drove Roman Siler. We started our sight-seeing tour in the tram depot Brno-Medlanky. We left the tram depot by back gate-way and we went up the Purkynova street on Veveri street. Regarding holiday reorganizing of city transport we continued back to reverse loop Komin. There we turned round and we continued to terminal loop Stary Liskovec through Pisarky and Mendel sqaure. We went from Stary Liskovec to terminal loop Brno-Lisen after a short technical rest through Renneska street and the main station. Our last drive was from terminal loop Brno-Lisen to tram depot Brno-Medlanky through the main station, Moravian sqaure and Lidicka street.

The youngest participant was Julinka Zoubkova from Jindrichuv Hradec. She is 10 months and she got three-hour trip under control. She has a positive relation to track after her dad, probably.

We returned in the depot with a great experiences early in the evening. We ran around Brno by the historical tram and we talked about technical and non technical questions.

We wish that an emergent membership of the Society of the Moravian Park Railways give this association the inceptive pulse and energy for next working. But this show the following days ...
