More weather

Last operating weekend
Saturday 27th October and Sunday 28th October 2012

Last operating weekend this year was under the heavy temeperature drop. We have to admit that meteorologists forecast weather quite accurately. So our court meteorologist Jenda announced unfavourable weather too. He bought himself classical meteorological small house with the sun doll and the rain figure. The cold weather reflected in attendance too, but several people visited us eventually. Only our battery locomotives were in operation all weekend. Petr Prikazky had his steam locomotive Morava in reserve, but it did not in operation finally. Because it is very complicated for an engine driver and for a steam locomotive too, keep fire, water and pressure for operation, if it is standing in the station for a long time.

Battery locomotives AEG were in operation all weekend.
Thanks to Jenda, which drove the majority of trains in the freezing weather.

Visitors were a few and so boys looked for some activity. They drew a handcar and they wanted to raced, who pass all line as fast. Jenda went as first with a massive support of flag bearer and cheering friends. He arrived only to level crossing under wooden labyrinth. The handcar was declared as unable to next go uphill after careful inspection due to stiff gears. And technical jury canceled this race finally.

We all of used our clubroom during both days. There was agreeable warmth due to blazing fire in the woodburning stove. The boys took "cowboy" cards out after a long time. But rules are a little specific and their interpretation depends on every person. The boys did not argue during card game surprisingly. Jura Sajbrt set up a software of cameras and he overcame obstacles of bit rate both days. Roman and Jura Kazatel were finishing some trifles on cars in the round-house and they came to warm up into clubroom for a while.

The God do not leave who is playing cards.

Operating weekend
Saturday 20th October and Sunday 21th October 2012

Saturday was filled with sunshine, but the sun rose only the afternoon on Sunday when the morning heavy fog rose. The autumn is coming, although sun's rays have intensity and it is attracting many visitors still. And we can see and hear it. The main station is filling up with passengers and you can hear children´s twittering is not the end. And all battery locomotives must help to pull auxiliary trains.

Sunday´s morning fog rose gradually.

Steam operating weekend
Saturday 6th October and Sunday 7th October 2012

Last steam operating weekend is over us. Saturday weather was really luxury and we experienced last warm day in this year probably. Thermometer attacked 25°C and we enjoyed this weather alongside visitors. Steam locomotives Ponava and Morava and all three battery locomotives AEG were in operation. But autumn made one´s voice heard on Sunday and it got colder after all-day rain. All locomotives had a rest this day and steam locomotives did not heating.
Battery locomotive AEG easily drove seven Sunday passengers.
But thank you very much that they were undaunted by bad weather.

Start of school holiday, two holidays follow-up to weekend, there are four free days. But this is not a good combination for visit our park railway. And last days were very hot too. Parched park, heated climbing frames and other attractions. Luckily we have covered pergola and platforms, which give coveted shade for us and for our visitors. Trains went crowded in the morning and in the evening, during noon were empty. This hot day is better spend somewhere by the water. Thank you very much for all passengers which visited us in these hot days.

STORY OF ONE "BOTTLE OPENER".
Jenda Palan has real unique, practically historical universal "bottle opener",
which he got as gift in one nameless Brno´s grocery long ago. Jenda uses it for open of lemonade "ZON"
which indicative deformation of quality "bottle opener" by ninety degrees.
But try open a bottle with wine by this tool, it is not to be yet.
Preparations were grand, Jenda prepared personal protective devices, "bottle opener" penetrate cork
but way back were worse. A cork crept out by half centimeter and then "bottle opener" flew out of the cork.
So as drill bit of holes into corks is good, but Jenda never open wine by this opener.
But Jenda has sense of humor, he remains at his "ZON" lemonades,
because cold lemonade is not sweet, he said us!

Operating weekend
Saturday 12th May and Sunday 13th May 2012

The very opposite last operating day. The weater was cold during all weekend, and rain showers were on Saturday. But we lifted a few die-hard fans on Saturday (total 22 passengers). The sunshine was on Sunday, but wind was cold.

The new passenger cars with gauge 7" were put into operation on Saturday. These bench cars have an extraordinary stability during boarding and getting off. Sitting on provisional wooden seat is quite comfortable. Roman assembles these cars and their accessories gradually. These cars with locotractor make up an impressive train.

Steam operating weekend
Saturday 5th May and Sunday 6th May 2012

The first weekend in every month was settled as steam operating days. The first steam operation fell on a first May weekend. The weather was pleasant indeed, temperature attacked the summer values and park was full of visitors. The steam locomotives GROMIT, MORAVA and PONAVA were in operation. Because majority of members of the club are building main station at weekends. And so battery or more precisely diesel locomotives T 478.1016 a AEG No. 6 or more precisely GMEINDER were help out.

The boys managed all-day operation without difficulty. We have their support already. They devised and prepared runs sheet so they make exact statistics about each locomotive and about number of rode passengers. We welcomed our new member - wheelchair user Franta Fux, which engaged club activity as ticket collector and dispatcher on the platform. I confess that we have afraid at he beginning, because we had not any experiences in this respect. But Franta put on our club T-shirt and cap and he got down into work. He took up expertly this function because he is descendant of engine driver from Veseli nad Moravou. You can throw in a word or two with him when you will wait for departure or when you will wait for your children. He will be glad because he is very talkative. And we want to thank all participating members and all visitors.

Park railway Olympia season 2012 opening
Tuesday 1st May 2012

Full operation of Park railway Olympia came with May Day arrival. Especially the boys could not hardly wait for first runs. But we had to execute careful maintenance of all line firstly - clean tracks on crossings and lubricate switches. And we had to clean station Amphitheatre. Morning shunting was a little complicated given ongoing construction and shortened branch track, but morning train left to station Amphitheatre with a minute delay. We will run on a short circle in May every Saturday, Sunday and holiday.

Show of vandalism on our park railway

Also our small railway start to contend with vandalism. Someone forced us warning cross in early spring. It is surprising that someone had take pains to wrestle concreted iron tube. But this is easier produce effort to destroy something than make something. About devastated ticket office in the station Amphitheatre not to mention. Someone broke off all plastic notices, tore off information for visitors and scribbled walls. And we have to restoration all to its original condition. But neither small nor big vandals do not take us appetite for work! So we thank you for your destroyer's activity. If you will have surplus energy you can visit us. We need to distribute about 10 tons of ballast at the main station. I think that you did not any force and appetite for devastation after took ten wheelbarrow with ballast.
